Donations to the Library

Donations to the Library

North Hall Library welcomes both financial contributions and material donations that support the educational mission of the University. Financial donations to North Hall Library’s endowment are a critical component in the University’s strategy of providing superior library services, resources, and facilities.

Financial Contributions

Financial contributions may take several forms. A gift may be given to the Mansfield University Foundation and limited to the library. If the donor wishes, the gift may be focused on one aspect of the library’s collections or operations or given as a memorial.

Focused Donations

Many donors elect to make contributions to the library that reflect a personal interest, and are focused on one aspect of the library’s collections or operations.

Some examples of focused giving:

  • Endow a subject area of the collection or provide funds to immediately enhance a particular collection.
  • Provide funding for technology environments and new learning spaces in the library facility.
  • Make a donation to support the digitization of a special collection in the University archives. For example, underwrite the cost of digitizing a year of  the College Quarterly.

Memorial Donations

Memorial donations for the purpose of purchasing specific books or resources in memory or in honor of a particular individual are encouraged and tastefully acknowledged with memorial book plates. All memorial materials selected for the library’s collection will be done in accordance with the library’s collection development policy.

Donations of Books or other Materials

The library welcomes the donation of books and other tangible materials for inclusion in our library’s collection. However, it should be understood that upon receipt the University becomes the owner of the material and, as such, reserves the right to determine its retention, location, cataloging treatment, and other considerations related to its use, maintenance, or removal.
